Associate Director Flores will share about the importance of the Arboretum's rare collections.

Lunch is potluck* style so bring something (savory or sweet) to share. Help limit our garbage and be better environmental stewards by bringing your own plate, tableware and napkin.

We have invited Patty Krawec to share with us her latest book, titled: "Becoming Kin: An Indigenous Call to Unforgetting the Past and Reimagining Our Future". For those new to Patty Krawec, and to those that joined the AIRC Book Circle in the winter, then come join us in conversation!

Patty's Book Description:

"Weaving her own story with the story of her ancestors and with the broader themes of creation, replacement, and disappearance, Krawec helps readers see settler colonialism through the eyes of an Indigenous writer. Settler colonialism tried to force us into one particular way of living, but the old ways of kinship can help us imagine a different future. The convergence will be the launch of an ongoing RLC student network.

This Denim Day, join the Center for Advocacy, Resources & Empowerment's (CARE) resource fair and clothing swap, highlighting different organizations on campus and within the community that provide basic needs resources for the UCSC community. Our Sexual Assault Awareness/Action Month (SAAM) focus is Beyond Basic Needs, emphasizing access to basic needs as a form of primary violence prevention, community care, survivor support, and empowerment!

We invite you to bring gently used clothing to swap! There will be free food, screen printing, therapy dogs, and basic needs items for all UCSC community members!

CSP Seminar Series welcomes Ashley Overhouse, Water Policy Advisor for Defender of Wildlife, California Program. She will give a talk on the topic: California Water & Wildlife: California’s Odd Couple. Ashley engages on a variety of issues statewide, including water transfers, water rights and the enforcement of environmental laws to protect wildlife that rely on a healthy San Francisco Bay-Delta and Central Valley wetlands. Key species include numerous threatened and endangered fisheries such as Chinook salmon and migratory birds such as the Sandhill crane.
